LocalBoom

Did you ever discover amazing local brands on Instagram and wished you knew about them earlier? These brands are usually owned by small business owners who make their products free of harmful chemicals but full of love and care. With the economy getting competitive and saturated by big brands and multinationals, sometimes it hard for these small local companies to shine bright and make their way to the shelves for exposure. What these small companies need is a platform where they can be introduced to many customers such that they can get exposure and recognition and also allow willing customers like us to buy their products.

While many can think how this platform should be, Steven Kieboom delivered this marketplace by establishing LOCAL BOOM. LocalBoom is a digital store where local entrepreneurs can list their products and get their much-needed exposure. However, LocalBoom is much more than a shopping platform. It is the voice of all the local makers which supports, empowers and advocates for Canadian made products and their owners. However, they don't stop there. The company has donated a chunk of their profit to different communities, organizations, and individuals across Canada.

When asked why he created LocalBoom, Steven said that he always wants to bring positive energy to people's lives and a part of that wish evolved as LocalBoom. Local Boom went live during the winter of 2017. The company is situated in Vancouver and mainly aims at bringing all local Canadian businesses to a common platform.

I came to know about Local Boom back in May 2018 through Instagram. During that time I wrote a blog post about Local Boom and the products that were sent to me. A lot of my followers personally messaged to thank me for making them aware of Local Boom because they have been looking for an online marketplace like this for a while. And so on their 1 year anniversary, here I am writing about them again for my new followers because I know you all will just love this online store.

The company started as a one-man army along with three local companies specializing in Beauty, Body, and wellness: Bare Skin Bar, Epic Blend and You + Me. However, in only a year, the company has included so many more brands like Audre Leigh, Whiffcraft, Somerset Moss and so on. They have also expanded their category from Beauty and Body to Home Decor, Food, and Treats. Oh and now they also have a Men's shop! Imagine how easy will it be easy for us to get gifts for our men now!

The company looks for local brands created by passionate entrepreneurs who produce their products with love and care. All the brand entrepreneurs that make to their marketplace have great quality products with a passion to deliver the best to their customers.

I am really thankful to Local Boom because this company gave me an opportunity to try so many different products made locally in different provinces which I would have not known about otherwise. The company's motto is not only to promote local entrepreneurs but also give back to the community over time which really impressed me. This is the kind of movement we need in the current world and I am really glad they are one of the few to take a step towards that cause.

The company is still a one-man show, and Steven looks after the whole process diligently. I am surprised how he single-handedly takes care of the website, Instagram page, shipments of packages and so on.

I will definitely be supporting Local Boom and can't wait to see the new brands it introduces along the way. Congratulations Local Boom on your one year anniversary!

I am a part of this Boom! Are you?
